What are the start times for each event?
Half Marathon – 8:00 a.m.
5K & Walkathon – 8:10 a.m.
Kids K – ongoing at the event compound
Am I allowed to use my Portable Music Device during the race?
For the safety of all on the course, we strongly recommend you do not use portable music devices on the course for any of the events. For the Half Marathon course, which is USATF sanctioned, portable music devices are prohibited.

What is the host hotel's contact info?
The Hampton Inn & Suites is the Official Hotel of the 2008 Provo City Half Marathon. The hotel’s address is 1511 South 40 East, Provo, UT 84601 and can be reached by calling (801) 377-6396. You can access discounted rates to the hotel through the lodging page (under sponsors) on run13.com.
What is the time limit to complete the Half Marathon?
Police support will end at 11:00. You may still continue to run the race course at that time; however, you will be running at your own risk.
Are there any Parking locations and restrictions pre- and post-race?
We suggest that you park in the NuSkin parking complex adjacent to the Start and Finish Line Compound. You can also find parking along Center Street. Please do not park at the Post Office on 100 South or your car will be towed.
What time is the awards ceremony?
The awards ceremony for the 5K will be at 10:00.
The awards ceremony for the Half Marathon and relay will be at 10:30.
How many aid stations and what type of fluid replacements are offered?
There will be 6 water and aid stations along the Half Marathon course and one water station on the 5K course. The water stations on the Half Marathon course will be at miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12. For the 5K, the water station is at about the mid-point. We will also have plenty of liquid at the Finish Line Compound.
Are there any post-race medical attention/massage therapy and locations?
There will be medical support at the Start and Finish Line Compound and at every aid station along the course. We will also have massage therapists at the Finish Line Compound to help relax & loosen up tight muscles.
What kind of food/drinks are at the finish line?
There will be water, sports drinks, chocolate milk and food from Rumbi for all participants. Spectators will also be able to purchase food for a minimal charge.
Will portable bathrooms be on the course?
Yes, at the Start and Finish Line Compound and at miles 3, 6 and 9.
Are roller-skates, inline skates, bikes or carriages of any kind allowed to participate in the Half Marathon?
No, if you are caught on the Half Marathon course with any of these, you will be directed off of the route.
Can I run the courses without registering?
No. All runners without Provo City Half Marathon bibs will be directed off the course immediately.
Are there Timing Chips & Race Numbers?
All official entrants will receive a timing chip along with their race bib number. Failure to return the timing chip will result in a $100 replacement fee.
If I get injured or for some other reason can't run after I have registered, can I have my money refunded?
No, however, you can transfer your registration to another runner. To do this, you will have to e-mail your information and the new runner’s information to dennis@run13.com. The new runner will have to send in a signed registration form, which can be downloaded from www.run13.com. If you cannot find anyone to take your place, while we will not offer a refund, we will still provide you with your race shirt and race packet.
Will there be Vaseline on the course?
Yes, at the aid stations.
Is the Half Marathon course USATF certified?
Yes.
What kind of shirts will the runners receive?
All runners will receive a dry fit polyester, technical shirt.
Will there be prize money for the Half Marathon and the 5K?
Yes for the Half Marathon, no for the 5K and Relay. However, there will be other significant prizes for all events.
Do 5K runners need a timing chip?
Yes.
Will there be pacers on the course?
There will be no pacers, but there will be a lead off scooter and a scooter to follow the last runner.
Where are good places for my family to watch the race?
The best place is at the Start and Finish Line Compound at the corner of University Avenue and Center Street. Another good location is the mid-point of the race at the relay exchange point (directions to the relay exchange are available on the relay portion of the Web site). Also, have your family check out the interactive course maps online and they may find a great place to cheer you on.
Can my family drive me to my relay start point?
Yes. There are no buses to the relay exchange point. You are responsible for transportation to and from the exchange point. The relay exchange will take place at a parking lot on boat harbor drive. Click here for directions to the relay from the start line.
Can my relay partner continue down the course to run my leg with me?
Yes. You will just have to exchange the chip to the proper runner.
Where do I get my timing chip?
At packet pick up the morning of the race.
Will there be a Finish line party?
Yes, the finish line will be a party. We will have food, entertainment, a mini health expo, etc. There will be tables and chairs at the finish line, but please feel free to bring blankets and chairs to relax on at the finish line.
