The Hobbler Half Marathon – Relay Style

In addition to the individual Hobbler Half Marathon is a competitive two-person relay that will follow the same course. Runner 1 will run a distance of approximately 6 miles and Runner 2 will run the remaining 7 miles. There will be an exchange point set up near the midpoint of the route where relay members will swap wristbands.  Here is how it works: both team members are invited to check in at the finish line location on race morning @ Arts Park – 700 S. 1300 E. Springville UT.  Runner 1 will board the shuttle bus which runs from 4:30 – 5:15 am and head up to the start line, while Runner 2 drives his/her vehicle to the exchange point. After the exchange, Runner 1 drives Runner 2′s vehicle back to the finish line.

START LINE TRANSPORTATION:  Runner 1 for the Half Marathon Relay will be bused from the finish line location at Arts Park – 700 S. 1300 E. Springville UT, to the start line. All starting half marathon relay runners MUST ride the buses as there is no parking or drop off areas at the start line. Buses will begin shuttling runners from Arts Park beginning at 4:30 am with the final bus leaving at 5:15 am.  Please arrive early as the last bus will not be able to fit everyone in it!  If you miss the buses you will NOT be able to drive to the start line as the left fork of Hobble Creek Canyon will be closed to traffic. Runner 2 will need to drive themselves to the relay exchange point and prepare for Runner 1’s arrival. After the exchange, Runner 1 will drive Runner 2’s vehicle back to the finish line location.

RELAY EXCHANGE POINT: Runner 2 will need to provide their own transportation to the relay exchange point, which will be near the 6 mile mark of the half marathon course, located along Left Fork Hobble Creek Rd, across from Rotary Park (just above Hobble Creek Golf Course).  This part of the road will not be closed to vehicles as runners will now be running on the trail instead of the street. Please park vehicles at Rotary Park and walk over to the relay exchange chute set up on the opposite side of Left  Fork Hobble Creek Rd:

Medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each of the following categories:

  • Female/Female
  • Female/Male
  • Male/Male
