“Chase the Mayor” 5K
Date: May 3, 2014
Time: 9:00 AM
Start Location: 3300 N. University Ave., Provo
Finish Location: Downtown Provo, Center St. & University Ave.
If running 13.1 miles doesn’t quite sound like your idea of fun, then how does 3.1 sound? Better? Good! Because this year’s Provo City 5k is going to be a fun one. Provo City Mayor, John R. Curtis, wants to know if you think you can beat him…even with a head start. We will start our great Mayor one minute early and it’s up to you to catch him, say hello, and leave him in the dust! Those elite runners that make it past Mayor Curtis will be given a custom window sticker boasting that you did, in fact, beat the mayor.*
The 5k course route is a FAST, gradual downhill that runs straight down University Ave. in Provo. The start line is at 3300 N. University Ave. (by Jamestown Square) and finishes in downtown Provo in front of the Utah County Courthouse. Runners should park or get dropped off at the start location and a shuttle bus will be available at the finish line compound to transport runners back to their cars. Race day registration and packet pick-up will be at the 5k START location at Jamestown Square, from 7:30 am – 8:50 am.
However you do it, get ready to sprint, jog, walk or crawl your way across the finish line…just make sure you save enough energy to join in on the festivities at the after-party! As always, all 5k participants are chip timed, receive gender specific performance tech shirts, treated to post-race massages and Magelby’s Fresh breakfast. Medals will be awarded to top 3 finishers in each age division with cash prizes going to top overall winners. So be a part of the Provo City Marathon for a fraction of the pain and register now!
- Overall 5k Winners (male & female) – $75
